Interested in taking your drone photography to the next level? This half day course will teach you how to combine the basic rules of (photography) composition with the latest in drone technology capabilities. We start by first reviewing the basic concepts of photography. We then move into how to utilize the settings within DJI GO4 app to apply those concepts. We’ll head to the field to find aesthetic and cool features to photograph. After the course you’ll take your newly acquired imagery back to your studio and work through basic post-processing. After about a week a webcast virtual meeting will be scheduled where all students will present a few of their best or favorite images for a critical critique from the instructor.
It’s highly recommended that you start using Lightroom (if you are not already). It’s the best way to keep your imagery sorted and organized.
About the Instructor
Doug has been an avid photographer since first picking up a Canon AE1 in 1986. Early on he studied with some excellent photography teachers including G. Pasha Turley at Southwestern Community College and Tom Knight – Professor of Photography at Humboldt State University. Tom was a good friend of Ansel Adams. The critique seat in Toms courses was signed by Ansel. Doug is one degree of separation from a true pioneer and legend.
In 2010 Doug began shooting underwater photography and in 2013 became an SSI Digital Underwater Instructor. In 2015 he entered the Monterey Bay Underwater Shoot out and placed first. The top prize for that was a trip to Papua New Guinea on an 8-day live aboard dive boat. Imagery from that trip can be viewed here: PNG Portfolio
Drones were a game changer for photographers as they allowed the sensor to be easily placed anywhere within the 3D space. Doug combines his decades of photography experience with latest in capabilities of sUAS to bring you all the latest advanced techniques in Digital Aerial Photography.
